Noorani Qaida is the beginner's primer for reading the Qur'an in Arabic. It teaches the 28 Arabic letters, the point in the mouth each one is articulated from (makhraj), and the vowel marks — in a fixed order, one sound at a time — until a student can read Arabic words unaided.
How we teach Noorani Qaida
Almost every Qur'an student begins here, and the quality of these first months decides how the next ten years sound. A letter learned with the wrong makhraj is not a small error that corrects itself later; it becomes a habit that has to be unlearned during Nazra, usually slowly and with some frustration.
Our Qaida classes are one-to-one for exactly that reason. A tutor listening to one child can hear the difference between ص and س on the first attempt and correct it there. In a group of eight, she cannot.
Lessons are 30 minutes, two or three times a week, and follow the standard Qaida sequence — letters in isolation, then joined in each position, then harakat, sukoon, tanween and madd. Your child's position in the book is tracked class by class, and you get a WhatsApp message after every lesson telling you exactly what was covered.

Common questions about Noorani Qaida
- How long does Noorani Qaida take to complete?
- Most children finish in six to ten months at two to three classes a week. A child who is already comfortable with Arabic letters can move considerably faster, and a very young beginner may take longer. Because classes are one-to-one, the pace follows the child rather than a class average.
- What age can a child start Noorani Qaida?
- From around age four, provided the child can sit for a 30-minute call and repeat sounds back. There is no upper limit — we teach Qaida to teenagers and to adult women who never had the chance to learn, in the Adult Sisters' track.
- Does my child need to know any Arabic first?
- No. Qaida assumes no prior Arabic at all. It starts from the first letter, and every instruction is given in English, so a child growing up in the UK or US can follow the lesson entirely in a language they already speak.
- What comes after Noorani Qaida?
- Nazra — reading directly from the mus'haf. Once a student can decode Arabic words reliably, they move from the Qaida book to the Qur'an itself and begin building reading fluency surah by surah.
